two thousand eleven.

I have been a bad blogger. Not a single post this year yet. Its an absolute shame.
It is the 31st of January, so before it gets to the second month of the new Year, I am going to try to update as much as possible, so that I wont feel so bad about myself :)

It has been a stressful month, first the beginning of the new year, than the first hand in at University on the 14th of January, and then the 21st of January, the Deadline for my Dissertation. I managed to produce everthing i was asked to do, and now i have to wait until the 3rd of Feb do find out how well I did!? Or not well... We will see. On Wednesday, the day before I am celebrating my precious 22nd Birthday, which to be honest I have forgotten about immensely.
So now, Lets get started on updating.

Okay now I guess, I have to admit now, that I have a slight obsession with tea. It is odd, as I am not that much of tea drinker, okay I have a cuppa when I decide to have a hot beverage in bed, I think tea goes very well with bed. Maybe because both words have three letters. But normally, I am a coffee, whenver the finance allow it, a Café Latte. Normally coffee, yes, instant.
But there is something about tea. The way it is consumed facinates me, I never had a british cuppa before coming to England, which seems obvious, but think about it. Tea, one of the most traded products in the World. It absolutely amazes me how 'the brits' have totaly took that ship and anchored it, yes.
Sterotypically we all know, yes, 'they'drink tea, eat cucumber sandwiches and porridge. Plus that horrendous british breakfast, which has the amount of meat in it, that an average cityzen would eat in a week.  (To be fair that is exactly what my granddad would say)
But the tea, that is the one thing that sticks.
The brits drink tea, but they do not have tea. It is a representation of colonialism but it has gone much further than that.  From this advantage of power back in times, yes, England had global power at some point, has evolved an entire culture. An entire craft has evolved with the tea, any Antique shop in this country helds the most beautiful tea-sets  any nana would dream of. Actually, all Nana's and myself.
It is used as statements in Films and it is still 'the' in thing to do. Tea-houses, tea-time.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I am not forming an opinion here, I am absolutely fascinated.
As you should know, I relate to myself as Fish 'n' Chips and Sauerkraut. I am obviously slightly keen on sterotypical food-preferences. But Tea, yes that is something, that will probably just stick with me for a while. Where ever I will go.

fish in hamburg.

i am currently located in hamburg, far up north of the german map, and easy to compare to the Human-traffic- Cardiff from the 90s.
My first time here, in the fish witout chips-city, exploring very little as the work placement i am attending right now is handling my time-managment very much from morning until late in the night. I may be overexaggerating a littlebit but working from 9 am until 19 pm is definately longer than am used to behind bars or if needed before and choosing the work load working freelance is definately not comparable. Even tho I am enjoying my time at work, if i would, i would pray for a little more free time. Hamburg, definately planned to be my home for some unpredictable time in my life, is definately some odd but beautiful place which needs exploring.
To some extent i wish nobody would come and visit Hamburg, because i suspect everyone would fall in love with this place and then the entire planet would try to live here.

oona levasseur.

na na na haven't uploaded much in the last month but i am back on my work now so i can show you some stuff. I am currently working on a project for my good friend Oona, who is a french singer here in London. She asked me to design a flyer for her that she can use over a long period of time instead of having a flyer for every single gig. So i am producing a flyer which represents her and her music in general with some space on the back to stick the dates and places.

As she and her music is a representation and a way of converting the life in and around Camden with its problems and pains i am mixing those influrences to get the best possible endresult.
If you look up her music you will see how the type i have designed for the flyer has merged out of the romantic but harsh sound of her voice. The colours i am using are there to represent the depth in her voice and by using monoprinting i have tried to give the image more of a rough cut and to decrease the gothic tone which comes across using such an intimidating type.

I found it a little scary at the beginning of my workprocess to get started as Oona didn't give me any limitations or directions. She said i know her best to visually represent her which is obviously awesome but it put a little pressure on me to please her the best i could with the endresult. Lucky for me she loved my first drafts and now i am just working on the final design.

I am going to put up some scanned images from my sketchbook and some try outs.
Hopefully in the next few days i will put up the final design and i will let you know when i can proudly present the day my flyer goes to print. In the meantime have a listen on

Alter Ego

today is the last day to fininsh my Illustration project about methamorphosis, so indeed tomorrow it is the hand in and i am a little upset its already over.
Since starting my degree all the modules i have had over the years, the Illustration class with Annabelle (there is a link to her webside on the left) has been the most fun and interesting. so today is my last day to enjoy my Cockatoo-work and tomorrow it will be gone.

Unfortunately i will have to stick with a tough plan to finish of my other modules, which should all be fine, its just none of them are actually as much fun as drawing birdies.

confused much?

well i am very much by how to use this blog to my benefit. i wish i would be a little more advanced in blogatronics but unfortunately i am not. I have uploaded some of my recent photography, which is to see by clicking on photography right at the top (clever).
the first couple of pictures is a project i have been working on about routine and repetition. Documenting the act of getting up, lucky for me the photos are tini tiny so do me a favour and dont look closed up, as i said, they are photos of me first thing in the morning.
A couple of 3D photographs are to find by scolling down down down which are some test runs produced during a workshop at uni with Spencer Rowell.
( 'I Could Have Been Anyone' photography exhibition 7th of May http://www.spencerrowell.co.uk/)
Surprisingly easy to do these 3Ds but hello most exciting lesson learned in ages.
I will try and upload some more photos soon, in that time just have a look around my illustration work for now until i have some spare time and the patience.
